Kotovsky District
From 2odessa.com The most comprehensive guide to Odessa, Ukraine
Please note: Kotovsky district is not an "interesting site" which tourists normally visit. It is a bedroom community.
Kotovsky district, Pacyolok Katoskava (посёлок Котовского) is 12 kilometers (7.4 miles) northeast of the city center. It is reached from the city center by going under the Peresypsky Bridge. The Kotovsky district was built in the 1970's. Over 70,000 Odessites now live there.
Marshutka and bus rides to and from Pacyolok Katoskava are the most crowded in the city. During peak times in the morning and at night expect to be unable to lift your arms because the transportation is so crowded.

History
The district is named after Grigore Kotovski (June 24, 1881 - August 6, 1925), a Soviet revolutionary leader of a cavalry brigade who entered the city from this area, and helped crush the whites.
The settlement of Birzula, where he died and was buried in a mausoleum, in 1935 was renamed Kotovsk town; and included in the newly created Odessa oblast. Kotovsk's mausoleum was later destroyed during Romanian occupation of Transnistria.
