Afghanistan War memorial

Shevchenko Park (Парк Шевченко)

To the right of the Alley of Glory, hidden by the trees, is a large sculpture of a modern solider. Next to the sculpture is a list of those Odessites who perished in the USSR's Vietnam.

On the left (west) side is a black marble list of all of the personal who perished in the Afghan war, the introduction states:

Military personnel

Compatriots-Odessites who perished during the Afghan War 1979-1989

Alexander the Second Monument

Shevchenko Park (Парк Шевченко)

Located on a hill, south of the stadium, this monument is now heavily defaced. On the west side of this obelisk the red plaque reads:

Andreevsky Bastion of the fortress built under

the direction of A.V.Suvorov was located here from 1793 to 1811


On the east side of this obelisk the plaque reads:

This City Park was founded on 7 (19) September 1875, now it is the Central Park of Culture and Recreation named after T.G. Shevchenko
